West Coast Trip

April 2nd to April 9th
After some deliberations the decision is to go to Gulf Islands National Park with South Pender Island being the base. It features the mildest spring weather, somewhat sheltered paddling, nice campground, good scenery and gunkholing and good possibility for seeing Orca, dolphins, sea lions, seals and pilot whales. Easter this year is in the area of April 2 to 9 th. Jim is getting charts and maps together and working on preplanning the trip.

This trip is for the person that has some paddling experience, but is still a fairly easy trip with relatively low risks. Prerequisites for the trip are:

   1. written/oral test on ocean navigation/tides/currents/safety and demonstration of self recovery techniques (pool session) OR....
   2. participation in a past club - ocean trip.

Re: West Coast Trip

I'm planning on being there. I will be expected at work on Tuesday so I won't be able to stay out the course.
I really look forward to seeing everybody.

Thanks Mathieu for doing such a good job of the web site!
